CU Student Programs
CTICE’s programming for Columbia University students use community-based learning to educate students for lives of social responsibility and civic engagement. Programming for students focuses on two areas: (1) for-credit courses and (2) co-curricular programming, including the Engaged Entrepreneurship program.
CTICE-supported, for-credit community-based learning courses include the following:
- The First-Year Design Course, which is required for all SEAS undergraduates
- Interdisciplinary courses, including V3310: “Science and Technology in Urban Environments” and W3010: “Science, Technology and Society”
- E4998: “Managing Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship” -- an advanced engineering course required of all undergraduates pursuing the minor in entrepreneurship
Columbia currently offers up to 30 credits of community-based learning courses in partnership with local not-for-profit groups, businesses, schools, and government agencies.
